Ryder Turns One - A Year of Growth

November 17, 2025•Steven Singer6 min read

One year ago today, Ryder David Singer arrived. Seven pounds, six ounces. Today he's walking (sort of), babbling constantly, and has opinions about everything.

Ryder Turns One

A lot has changed in twelve months. For all of us.

The Year in Review

When Ryder was born, we were months away from our D365 go-live. I was running on no sleep, managing a major transformation, and learning how to be a new father again after 22 years. Hannah was born in 2002 - I'd forgotten how intense the first year really is.

Somehow, we made it. The D365 migration went live successfully. Ryder hit every developmental milestone. Stephanie and I figured out how to function as a team with a newborn. Hannah, now 23, has been an incredible big sister.

What Ryder Taught Me About Leadership

Babies don't care about your schedule. Babies don't care about your priorities. They need what they need, when they need it, and your job is to figure out how to make everything else work around that.

This forced a leadership evolution I should have made years ago. More delegation. Better documentation. Systems that don't depend on any single person - including me. My team stepped up. They were capable all along; I just hadn't given them room.

The Family

Stephanie has been amazing. Twenty years together, married now for almost three years, and somehow she still puts up with my work schedule, my 5 AM Teams calls, my "just one more email" at 9 PM. She's a better partner than I deserve.

Hannah visiting always brightens Ryder's day (and ours). There's a 22-year gap between them, but watching them interact is one of my favorite things. She's already planning what she'll teach him when he's older.

Happy Birthday, Ryder

One year down. A lifetime to go. You've made this year harder, better, more exhausting, and more fulfilling than any year before.

Keep growing. Keep learning. Keep making us laugh. We love you.
